Aleksi is a 28-year-old who has failed to find a job after graduating from college and is returning home to live under her parents' roof. With few options to stave off her boredom, Aleksi ignores her pressing responsibilities by pursuing romantic adventures with various men: Christian, an American photographer who she bonds with due to their similar interests, Goran, a local musician who she can't stand because of his traditional values, but with whom she has intense physical chemistry, and Toni, an older, richer, charming Slovenian.

Barbara Vekarić (Dubrovnik, 1987) graduated from Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Zagreb, majoring in comparative literature, and earned her BA and MA degree in film directing at the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb, Croatia. She wrote and directed a dozen short films, including First Lady of Dubrava (2011), which was screened at more than 50 international film festivals and won 7 awards. She also directs commercials and music videos. Aleksi is her debut feature.

On a fall day in Croatia, two school kids meet on a bridge. They are about to admit something very important to each other. On the same day, an avalanche of events unfolds among people who are no means randomly directed to each other. It will result in a stopping of an elevator, a wheelchair, a night tram, a suicide threat, wild sex, an age difference, a long silence driving to the unknown, standing in the rain, a brutal confession, a video from the past, deceiving a deaf refugee, traces of the Second World War, and a gentle kiss.

Anđelo Jurkas is a Croatian director, writer, law graduate, musician, music and film critic. He is the first author in the region to debut with a feature film trilogy, which includes Because of You (2016), Fuck Off I Love You (2017) and Happy End (2018). He directs live-action films, documentaries and commercials, music videos and experimental videoformats. He is also the author of dozen books, TV shows, and solo albums. He is also running an initiative to include pop-culture education in elementary and high-school curriculum.

She watches him through the window as he loads the final pieces of furniture into the truck. They are counting down the last hours in their home. Their seven-month-old baby is asleep, unaware of the trouble brewing. They will either vacate the apartment peacefully, or they will be forcefully evicted. Their home, her father's legacy, used to be their safe haven, their family nest. Now, corrupt courts, greedy bankers, and unscrupulous real estate investors have turned it into a site of their worst nightmares. As tensiona rise, they struggle to preserve their relationship. Three stories about violence as destruction of intimacy, about family, integrity and trust.

CHERRIES: Family tensions are slowly eroding what should have been a carefree summer for ten-year old Jakov. A series of events ending in tragedy will incite his emotional revolt, but also his feelings of guilt.

WHITE BONE DEATH: Maria and Lucia, two young sisters, and their neighbour Marko, are playing “the white bone of death”. The children's game gets out of hand and grows into a more serious and dramatic event for both the children and the adults.

SINKING OBJECTS: A family gathering takes a strange turn when the daughter appears in front of her parents with a bruise on her eye and an unconvincing, clichéd excuse.

Dubravka Turić (Zagreb, 1973) edited more than 20 feature, experimental and animated films, and worked as a screenwriter for documentary and travel TV series. Her directing debut Belladonna (2005) was named best short film at Venice International Film Festival, and Cherries (2017) was selected for the Directors’ Fortnight at Cannes Film Festival.

Filip Mojzeš (Zagreb, 1989) graduated in film and TV directing from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb and the Sarajevo Film Academy. He is the author of several short films, and his first professional short film, The Walker (2014), was named best short film at Belgrade Documentary and Short Film Festival.

Filip Peruzović (Zagreb, 1986) graduated in film and TV directing from the Academy of Dramatic Art in Zagreb. He is the author of several noted short films (Tetrapak, 2010, Coffee with Jam, 2013), as well as a feature TV film Walk the Dog (2014), which won the Croatian Actors’ Guild Award for best drama. He is currently preparing his next feature film Elsewhere.

However, as soon as they realise they are competing against each other for the lead role, things take an unexpected turn.

After spending four years in prison, Franjo hasn't changed. He was, and still is, a drug dealer. His wife is dying, and her parents want to make him look as an incompetent parent in order to take away the custody over his son, Mali. However, Mali loves his father, and wants to live with him. Franjo's parenting methods are unconventional, but he has no intention of explaining them to anybody. He also won't let anybody take his son away from him. For his 40th birthday, Franjo will receive a gift that will solve all his problems.

Vera Artuković, a religious fanatic, suspects her younger sister Maša might be possessed by Satan. She asks the local priest, Viktor Supilo, for help, not knowing he is going through a crisis of faith. On the evening of his first exorcism, several uninvited characters appear. One of them is Lidija, a journalist at a conservative family TV channel, who comes with her cameraman Boris, who knows Maša from childhood. The last one is Sofia, a psychiatrist with a profound intolerance of religion. The cellar of the Artuković sisters becomes a zone of conflict between different characters, with dark secrets and past actions coming to the surface.

Dalibor Matanić (1957) is a film, television, theatre and commercial director. He is the author of ten feature films and several short films. He won the Jury Prize in the official selection of Cannes Film Festival for his film The High Sun (2015), screened in the Un Certain Regard section. Siniša Mesjak, an arrogant, ambitious politician, finds himself framed for a scandal. To get him out of the public eye, the government sends him to the farthest inhabited island in Croatia as its commissioner, to organise local elections. Seven previous commissioners failed at the task. At the island, full of elderly people who speak in an unintelligible dialect, and cut off from all communications, his only help comes from the infantile youth Tonino, an epileptic. As he seeks a way to fulfil his mission, the Commissioner finds many things he could not have imagined, including himself.

Ivan Salaj (Zagreb, 1969) is a Croatian director and writer. He directed See You (1995), a mid-length film, awarded at the Filmfest Cottbus, documentary films Second Floor, Basement (1991) and Hotel Sunja (1992), as well as Resistance Day, which was a part of a feature anthology Zagreb Stories Vol. 3 (2015). He worked as a screenwriter and director on Croatian Radiotelevision and RTL, and has directed around 60 commercials. The Eighth Commissioner is his debut feature.

A group of people of different ages and various interests. They all live in a small city and are connected in multiple ways. This is one of those cities where everybody knows everything about everyone – their lifestyle, their values, type of the car they own or where they spend their holidays. On the other hand, when some of those people need help, their neighbours tend to look the other way. The story follows a man who is trying to make this world a better place – in his own, slightly bizarre way.

Dino Kos (1992) works in film and video production. He has directed four short fiction films (Timeless Conversation; 2017, Alienation, 2016; Mm, 2015; Mopus, Deni, 2015) and three music videos. Chameleon is his debut feature.

Frano Barunčić (1990) is a full-time student of acting at the Academy of Applied Arts of the University of Rijeka. He is the president of Aion produkcija, where he works in production, directing and acting.
