Behind an immense shopping mall in the metropolis of Taipei, an eight-year-old girl plays with her kite at a nightly parking lot. Submerged in an impressive, chaotic, and even somewhat unpleasant environment, the girl uses her buzzing surroundings as a playground. An observant bystander, a Dutch photographer, is able to capture this moment with his camera. Her photo evokes memories of his own childhood.

David Verbeek (Amsterdam, 1980) is a Dutch director who lives and works in Shanghai, China. He directed seven feature films, many of which have had successful festival runs. His third feature, R U There (2009), was screened at Un Certain Regard section of Cannes Film Festival, while Full Contact (2015), co-produced in Croatia, was selected for the Platform competition at Toronto International Film Festival. An Impossibly Small Object (2018) is his second co-production with Croatia.

The stories cover the period from the past to the present day and are located around the world. It is a poetic journey through the collective memory of mankind, and an attempt to answer the questions of who we are, where we come from and where are we going.

Miha Knific (Kranj, 1976) is a Slovene film director and conceptual artist. He graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts and Design in Ljubljana, and specialised in film and video at the Royal Institute of Art in Stockholm, Sweden.
