The P.S. Pula Programme was presented today at a press conference held at the Historical and Maritime Museum of Istria. Gracijano Kešac, general manager of the Museum, said he is happy with the programme continuing every summer and complementing the cultural activities of the city. The Historical and Maritime Museum of Istria has proven to be a sought multifunctional space that people like to come visit for concerts, plays, as well as the traditional Pula Film Festival programme Europolis Meridians, which attracts a large numbers of viewers and is a unique venue for cinema under the stars.
Nataša Šimunov, production manager, emphasised that the programme offers best European films awarded at most relevant film festivals, and which saw their premieres at the Pula Film Festival. On each of the evenings, there will be two screenings, with two films from an interesting range of genres - from crime to comedy, thrillers, and history dramas that have received recognition from both the critics and the audience. The Bookshop (directed by Isabel Coixet), a film that has already won 13 awards and as much as 31 nominations will have the honour of opening the programme, on 4 August at 9.30 p.m. It will be followed by Happy as Lazzaro (directed by Alice Rohrwacher), a film that won the Best Screenplay Award at this year’s Cannes Film Festival. The rest of the week will also be very dynamic in terms of genres and European productions, and I believe the loyal viewers will find something for themselves in the abundant programme, Šimunov added.
All films will have Croatian subtitles, and films in languages other than English already have English subtitles. Tickets are available at pulafilmfestival.hr and kinovalli.net, and are priced at 15 HRK per film. Online ticket sales is for credit and debit cards only, at from 4 to 10 August, at Kaštek, payment will be possible only in cash, in Croatian kuna, said Sanela Pliško.
