Black and White Festival

Exhibition

30 August – 04 September 2020

crno bijeli svijet

The exhibition Black and White Festival of the Memo Museum is a part of photo documentation from Pula Film Festival archives from the years 1975-1984, when Martin Bizjak was the director of the then Festival of Yugoslavian Film. Born in Hrastnik (Slovenia) in 1929, Bizjak graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Ljubljana in 1958. From 1957, he worked in Pula first as an art teacher, then as an officer for culture at Pula Municipality, and later as the head of cultural-aesthetic education at the Workers’ University. Following his mandate as director of the Festival of Yugoslavian Film, Bizjak briefly worked on Brijuni Islands, and until his death in 2017, spent his years of retirement by painting and exhibiting in Pula and beyond.
