Summer workshops for youngsters at 61st Pula

BALTAZAR-radionicaThe Pula Film Festival invites all youngsters to apply for the workshops hosted by the Festival. Camp RED, a creative film and post production workshop lead by Dado Valentic, renowned expert in digital mastering, will be organized by the Festival for the second time and it will host international participants. The already traditional and extremely popular animated film workshop “Professor Balthazar’s Adventure Laboratory” will open its door for the tenth time to a new generation of young animated film fans.

This year, the Pula Film Festival will host Camp RED, a film and post production workshop for children. Camp RED is a creative workshop created in collaboration between the Pula Film Festival and Dado Valentić, founder of Mytherapy, a leading colour grading company in the UK, with support from Red Digital Cinema and Adobe. The main aim of the workshop is to bring the know-how of the film industry and the latest digital technologies to children and so discover the next stars of digital cinematography. The camp is organized as a 7-day course which will host Croatian and international participants aged 12 to 16 with English as the main workshop language. The workshop will take place 16 to 24 July 2014 in Pula. The attendance fee is 600 kunas for participants from Croatia, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Serbia. For participants from other countries the attendance fee is 1,130 kunas. Applications are open until 16 June for international participants and until 23 June for Croatian nationals.

PROFESSOR BALTHAZAR’S ADVENTURE LABORATORY
The already traditional and extremely popular animated film workshop “Professor Balthazar’s Adventure Laboratory” will open its door for the tenth time to a new generation of young animated film fans. All youngsters aged 7 to 12 looking for new things, experiments and exciting film ventures are welcome to join the workshop. This year’s leaders of the workshop are Manuel Šumberac and Vibor Juhas. The special guest is Péter Vácz, Hungarian director of animated films. His films Streamschool and Rabbit and Deer earned him more than fifty awards at international festivals. Since 2013 he has worked at the London-based Picasso Pictures animation studio. As part of the theoretical part of the Laboratory the participants will get acquainted with animation production techniques – from script development to exciting exercises aimed at understanding the basic principles and rules of animation. As part of the practical session the participant will make their animated films with the help of the mentor. The films produced as part of the workshop will be presented at the festival. The workshop will take place 14 to 23 July 2014 in Pula. The attendance fee is 400 kunas and for two children from the same family 700 kunas. Applications are open until 30 June.
