PULICA WORKSHOPS LAUNCHED
The Pula Film Festival invites all the children, aged between 7 and 12 to apply for this year’s Professor Balthazar’s Adventure Laboratory. The famous Laboratory has been taking place for nine consecutive years as part of the Pulica sidebar programme for children. Furthermore, the 60th edition of the festival will be intensified with the Kamp RED workshop for teenagers, aged between 10 and 15, who will get an opportunity to use state-of-the-art digital film technology and try their hand at creating a film. Applications for this year’s Laboratory and Kamp RED will be accepted from June 12 until July 1, 2013.
This summer once again children will get an opportunity to experiment and reveal the secrets of producing animated films. The renowned professor Balthazar will lead an adventure laboratory where all kids aged between 7 and 12 will be able to do film experiments. The Laboratory will take place at the Pula City Library and Reading Room under the guidance of Zvonimir Rumboldt and Tomislav Fiket. During this year’s Laboratory we will travel around Europe with Lino. “Wishing to familiarize our children with different countries of the European Union, Lino the bear, a recognizable Podravka brand, explores four European countries selected by the attendees through animated films”, explains Tanja Miličić, producer of the Festival.
The workshop will take place from July 15 – 26, 2013, with a break on July 20 and 21. Those children who have already attended the workshop and those who would like to try their hand at animation for the first time are welcome to apply. The participation fee amounts to HRK 400.00 and for two children from the same family HRK 700.00. The seats will be filled in the order of sending applications. If the number of attendees reaches its limit before the mentioned application deadline, additional applications will not be taken into consideration. Films made by adventurers will be screened in the Arena on Saturday July 27, 2013. All attendees will get free admission to all film screenings in the Arena.
As a continuation of our cooperation with Mytherapy Studio from London, with which we organized the first 3D workshop in the past years, this year we are launching Kamp RED, the attendees of which, aged between 10 and 15, are only to become film professionals. As part of this workshop the attendees will get a chance to “play” with the same camera that is used in large-scale Hollywood productions, such as Peter Jackson’s The Hobbit and Riddley Scott’s Prometheus or on Lady Gaga’s, Justin Bieber’s or Pink’s music video sets. The Kamp RED digital workshop offers a mixture of entertainment and film training and it was established as a rejuvenation of similar RED Inc. workshops for adults taking place in Hollywood.
Kampers will use RED EPIC cameras and a professional editing programme. Finally, they will watch their film on the big screen. Using state-of-the-art digital film technology, kampers will literally find themselves on the verge of professional cinema, of which many filmmakers can only dream. All the attendees will acquaint themselves with the main actors on the set: screenwriter, director, actor, photographer, sound artist, art director, costume designer, editor.
The workshop will take place from July 17 – 24, 2013 in the Valli Cinema’s small screening room. The participation fee amounts to HRK 600.00 and for two children from the same family HRK 1,000.00. The actual participation fee is HRK 3,500.00 but thanks to the sponsors of the workshop – Mytherapy Studio and RED Inc. – all attendees will get a special scholarship. The seats will be filled in the order of sending applications. If the number of attendees reaches its limit before the mentioned application deadline, additional applications will not be taken into consideration. All attendees will get free admission to all film screenings in the Arena.
