MS61908

On 1 May, 2014, Pula Film Festival’s Artistic Advisory Board closed the submission of films for the Croatian and shorts programmes of the 61st festival. After the call for submissions was launched, a large number of producers submitted their films. In line with the Statute of the Festival, their entries were divided into two programme categories: Croatian Film and Short Pula.

The Croatian programme accepts films with the Croatian production share or the participation of Croatian film professionals of over 50% as well as those films that received financial support as Croatian feature-length productions longer than 70 minutes at a public tender called by the Croatian Audiovisual Centre. Films with the Croatian artistic and production share of less than 50% could have been submitted for the minority co-productions subsection of the Croatian programme. The short-length programme Short Pula is reserved for short and medium-length films shorter than 70 minutes.

21 films were submitted for the feature-length category, out of which as many as 11 independent productions. The submitted films include young director Ivan Livaković’s directorial debut The Enchanting Porkers, Number 55 by Kristijan Milić, The Reaper by Zvonimir Jurić, The Bridge at the End of the World by Branko Ištvančić and Zagreb Capuccino by Vanja Sviličić. The award-winning film Velvet Terrorists was submitted for the minority co-productions section of the Croatian programme. 28 shorts compete in the Short Pula programme, among which films by Jasna Nanut, Daniel Kušan, Tanja Golić, Dijana Mlađenović as well as a directorial debut by actress Nina Violić.

The 61st Pula Film Festival runs from 12 July all the way to 26 July 2014. The Artistic Advisory Board, comprised of Mike Downey, Tanja Miličić and Hrvoje Pukšec, will reach their decision on the films for the Festival’s competition at the beginning of June.
