SUNDAY AT KASTEL: THE MAFIA ONLY KILLS IN SUMMER AND FREE FALL
The second day of the 61st Pula Film Festival International Programme features two interesting films. Watch the Italian romantic comedy The Mafia Only Kills in Summer by Pierfrancesco Diliberto Pif at Kastel, at 21:30. The film follows the perspective of a schoolboy, Arthur, born in Palermo on the day Vito Ciancimino, the head of the mafia and the Christian Democratic Party is elected mayor of Palermo. In amorous pursuit of his classmate Flora, Arthur discovers the vagaries of first love and nascent passion for journalism in a community where mafia, students, ordinary citizens, judges and politicians meet in a series of tragic and ridiculous situations. The film stars Pierfrancesco Diliberto Pif, Cristiana Capotondi, Ginevra Antona, Alex Bisconti, Claudio Gioe and Ninni Bruschetta.
Cult films enthusiasts can watch a real treat at Kastel, at 23:15. This year, Hungarian director György Pálfi, known to Croatian audience for his film Taxidermia, has finished his Free Fall, another film in which the world is presented from a different perspective. The film stars Piroska Molnár, Miklós Benedek, Tamás Jordán, Krisztina Jankovics, Marina Gera, Csaba Gosztonyi and Dániel Csengery. Free Fall represents an old woman’s fall from the roof of her apartment block. She flies past six floors and in the last moments of her life she looks into the windows she passes and gets to know true stories of people living in the house. Six stories on the poor state of humanity told with humour and imagination to the accompaniment of a pulsating soundtrack from Pálfi’s collaborator Amon Tobin.
