arena3

After warming up with the international selection at Kastel, the 61st Pula Film Festival will start running at full speed with the tonight’s opening ceremony that will mark the opening of the Croatian Programme. With great films, a large number of sidebar programmes and an array of festival guests, visitors will have a hard time selecting what to see.

As part of the feature-length international programme, you can see Jessica Hausner’s Amour Fou at the Valli Cinema already at 15:00 h. Two hours later, at the same venue, the music documentary Rock in Reykjavik will launch a retrospective dedicated to Fridrik Thor Fridriksson, member of the jury. If you already haven’t seen it, you can see Jimmy’s Hall by acclaimed Ken Loach at the Istrian National Theatre at 18:00 h.

The Croatian short-length programme starts at 19:00 at the Valli Cinema with the film Alke by Milan Rukavina and Miroslav Kosanović. This will be followed by Six Half Past Six by Dalija Dozet, The Clean-Up by Jasna Nanut, Thresholds by Dijana Mlađenović and Together by Daniel Kušan.

The City of Pula Wind Orchestra’s performance in front of the Arena at 20:00 h will serve as an intro for the opening ceremony of the 61st Pula Film Festival. The programme in the Arena starts at 21:30 h. Visitors will hear welcome speeches and see a surprise film. The official Croatian competition will be opened with Darko Šuvak’s Happy Endings, a world premiere of a crime drama starring Areta Ćurković, Zlatan Zuhrić Zuhra, Daria Lorenci Flatz, Anita Matić, Mate Gulin, Robert Plemić and Paško Vukasović.

DJ Dogmatic will be in charge of the music programme at Circolo.
