In post-war Pula, still divided between Italy and Yugoslavia, and under the command of the Anglo-American army, mines exploded on 18 August 1946 on Vergarola Beach, killing more than 60 people. A large number of Italians left Pula after that, and to this day there are questions about what actually happened, whether it was an assassination or an accident, who could have benefited from it…?

Arsen Oremović (Zagreb, 1966) is a graduated film director and screenwriter. He works as a journalist, columnist, and editor at Večernji list. He used to be the director of Pula Film Festival, president of the Croatian Society of Film Critics, and member of the Programme Council of Croatian Radiotelevision. His more notable documentaries are Married to the Swiss Franc (2013), Third Best (2016), Castle Crash, the two-season series Nesreća, and other.
