Film programmes for children announced, as well as student films, Employee Index and Film Index

At today’s press conference held at the Lunas Bar of the Histria Hotel, deputy mayor of the City of Pula, Robert Cvek, director of the Tourist Board, Sanja Cinkopan Korotaj, director of the Istrian Regional Centre of Zagrebačka banka, Valter Šarić, CEO of Arena Hospitality Group, Reli Slonim, and director of Pula Film Festival Gordana Restović, announced the last of the films from this year’s programme, an interesting side programme, and have shown their support to the 65th edition of Pula Film Festival.

Pula Film Festival is about to start. Screenings at the indispensable Arena begin in less than ten days, and Pula is proud to present the jubilee edition of the Festival, abounding in film and side programmes. The Festival is sure to once again surprise its audience and shine this year as well, and will undoubtedly be an event not to be missed, said Robert Cvek. Elaborating on the significance of the Festival, Sanja Cinkopan Korotaj said that this event is an integral part of Pula’s cultural tourism, and that in the week of the Festival, both foreign and domestic tourists are thrilled by this unique event. Subtitles in English for all films certainly appeal to foreign visitors, as well as the English version of the Festival web page and app. Arena Hospitality Group, the Festival’s hotel partner for a number of years, has also recognised the exclusive offer and attractiveness of this event. Reli Slonim said that the Festival has achieved recognisability beyond Croatian borders a long time ago, and that Arena Hospitality Group is happy to promote the event through their communication channels. This year, in cooperation with the Croatian Association of Interdisciplinary Artists, they announced a competition for your creatives from the ages of 15 to 21. The competition set the theme of drafting a sketch of a fashion collection with the slogan Film Under the Stars, and invited young creatives to present their fashion interpretation of the 65th Pula Film Festival reflecting the Festival’s updated visual identity. The project is sponsored by Arena Hospitality Group, and the expert jury has selected four candidates - Nikolina Balatinac, Ana Paula Jeluć, Lana Tomišić and Leon Gržinić, who will present their creations at the fashion show on 12 July. The event will be complemented by 13 established designers, who will also be presenting their collection. The whole project is sponsored by Arena Hospitality Group.

The cult programmes in Pula, especially those of Pula Film Festival, have enjoyed support from Zagrebačka banka for a number of years, as their unique venues and activities represent an important event for both Croatian and foreign audiences, said Valter Šarić. He also added that the multiple benefits that Pula Film Festival offers enable the audience and authors, as well as institutions, to meet at one place, with the same goals.

Gordana Restović announced this year’s quality programmes for children, in both the film and the side programme of the 65th Pula Film Festival. A total of nine feature and four short films make up the programme of Pulica and Dizalica. These two programmes are accompanied by practical workshops: Professor Balthasar’s Adventure Laboratory and Workshop for Digital Natives, with places filled in record time this year as well. Films created in these workshops will be screened as premieres on the last day of the Festival, 22 July, before the film fit Hotel Transylvania 3: Summer Vacation. Continuing the cooperation with national and regional academies, the Festival will also present student films by directors in the making, screening seven Croatian and fourteen international films. Student Films will thus round up the film programme, which can be downloaded as a booklet from the web site.

Pula Film Festival spokeswoman Sanela Pliško presented the completed Employee Index, which includes information, photographs, short biographies and roles of people who have worked on any of the editions and parts of the Festival. It is a way to say thank you to all who have contributed to the Festival with their work, be it behind the scenes or in the public eye. Along with the Employee Index, the comprehensive project of creating the Film Index has also been completed. It is a catalogue of all of the films that have competed for the Golden Arenas, with more than 830 films and information on directors, film crews, screenings, and won awards. The Film Index brings into focus all of the films that have ever competed for the Golden Arenas, as the competition programme has always been the core of Pula Film Festival.
