Starry skies of the Arena to host the 65th competition of best Croatian films
The 65th Pula Film Festival will open on Saturday 14 July. Over the last few weeks, the film atmosphere in Pula has seen crowds at sales points, a sea of promotional material and information in the city centre, and growing interest of the media, as well as confirmation of arrival of many guest directors and film crews.
The opening ceremony, hosted by Danijela Trbović and Duško Ćurlić, starts at 9.30 p.m. and will be live on Channel 1 of Croatian Radiotelevision, with the Croatian national anthem performed by popular singer Goran Karan. The inevitable fireworks will illuminate the audience following the opening ceremony programme, and the honour of being the first festival screenings at the Arena will go to the short film In the Name of the Strawberry, the Chocolate and the Holy Spirit (directed by K. Lulić) and the feature film Aleksi (directed by B. Vekarić). The opening ceremony will kick off a thrilling week of national competition with as many as 17 films competing for the Golden Arenas, of which 10 are Croatian films and 7 are minority co-productions.
Welcome!
