Alongside abundant screenings, Pula will see exhibitions, and entertainment and gastronomy events across as many as eight locations in July
Gordana Restović, director of Pula Film Festival, presented the exhibition programme of the 65th edition of the Festival, which brings together great artists, well-known to experts and audiences alike. The exhibition programme starts on 12 July at SKUC with a retrospective of photographs of the acting diva Milena Dravić, whose timeless roles have marked a fascinating film star career, while the monograph will be presented at Valli Cinema. Art photographer and cinematographer Stanko Herceg will present his selection of “one of the possibilities of experiencing reality” on the same day, at Makina Gallery, focusing on the long and short life of digital and analogue photography, respectively. The seventeenth edition of Cinemaniac > Think Film 2018, dedicated to film art and practices of found footage, which simultaneously provides both inspiration and material as resource to artists and filmmakers, as well as an aesthetic, critical and conceptual framework, a place for experimenting. It will be presented on 15 July by curators Branka Benčić and Tanja Vrvilo. The following day, at MSUI (Museum of Contemporary Art of Istria), the award-winning academic sculptor Alem Korkut will present twelve new sculptures under the title Body / Corpus, which open up new readings of the artistic work of the sculptor, who pays almost equal attention to the reflecting and the creating of a sculpture, as well as its co-existence with the surroundings it is placed in. On 17 July, at the HUIU Gallery, Dalibor Martinis, co-author of the Festival’s cinemaniac for a number of years, will open an exhibition called Forgeries, Disinformation and Frozen Images, which follows a range of recent exhibitions at the background of which are the beginnings of the topic of the relationship between design and neo-avantgarde art.
The entertainment programme, which will delight with various genres, was presented by Nataša Šimunov, production manager of Pula Film Festival. The programme, which will run from Saturday to Saturday, includes DJ So_Chic, Zoran Predin & Damir Kukuruzović, Nipple People, Kultur Shock, Glitterbox, Livio Morosin Bend, Tv Istra Party – DJ Šurki, to be closed by the fantastic DJ Mario Kovač.
Along with the exhibitions and music performances, there will also be a gastronomy programme, Street Food Festival Food in Motion, at Titov park. It is an excellent festival of street food with delectable combinations of local produce, presentations of Istrian wineries, a large selection of craft beer and an enjoyable entertainment programme to accompany delicious street food al fresco style. A total of around ten local restaurants and food producers will offer tasty and cheerful dishes based around local produce. We want to introduce the audience to the modern street food movement based on local produce, imagination, originality and knowledge, as well as a cheerful atmosphere ideal for complete enjoyment in culinary skills. Around the world, street food is a synonym for tasty and original dishes based solely on local produce and the knowledge of true masters of the trade, said Tomislav Pranjić, co-organiser.
Following the announcements of Croatian and International Programme, from 21 July, tickets for screenings at the Arena will be available on the website. The info point will open its doors on 7 July, where, alongside regular tickets, both pensioner and student passes will be available (30.00 and 50.00 HRK, respectively), as well as a set of tickets for all nine days (165.00 HRK). Admission to all other Festival venues is free.
