In 1959, Florence Green, a free-spirited widow, decides to open up a bookshop – the first such shop in the sleepy seaside town of Hardborough, England. By exposing the narrow-minded local townsfolk to the best literature of the day, she causes a cultural awakening in a town which has not changed for centuries. But this mini social revolution soon brings her fierce enemies.
Isabel Coixet (Barcelona, 1969) is a Spanish film director. She directed 12 features, as well as several documentaries and short films: My Life Without Me (2003), The Secret Life of Words (2005), Nobody Wants the Night (2015).
