    ZAPOČELA 58. PULA

    3D KINO RADIONICA
S radom započinje i 3D kino radionica - prva takve vrste u Hrvatskoj, koju je Festival organizirao u suradnji s londonskim My Therapy studijem i Akademijom dramske umjetnosti u Zagrebu.

THE 58TH PULA HAS BEGUN

The first evening screenings at Kastel have been presented as part of the International Programme. The Istria History Museum, or the popular Kastel, has gained popularity and the tickets for its film screenings have been in high demand in the last couple of years. In order to make the experience of watching films in the intimate atmosphere of Kastel more pleasant and to make it accessible to a larger number of people, we have replace the old chairs with more comfortable ones and increased their number to five hundred, which was greeted with great enthusiasm by the first Kastel spectators.
The youngest ones were most happy about the start of morning screenings for children as part of Pulica, which will present as many as 9 both contemporary films and good old cinematic hits. The decision on the best film will be reached for the first time by an eight-member jury composed of children aged between 6 and 13.

    3D CINEMA WORKSHOP
The 3D Cinema Workshop is taking place as well –
the first of such kind in Croatia, organized by the Festival in cooperation with My Therapy Studio from London and the Zagreb Academy of Dramatic Art. The need for such workshops is best evidenced by global cinematic trends which have seen a rapid turn towards stereoscopic films. This tendency has been triggered by an impressive success of stereoscopic films at box-offices.

    VRHUNAC MEĐUNARODNOG PROGRAMA 58. PULE

Time ćemo se za ovu godinu oprostiti s predstavljanjem dijela Međunarodnog programa u prekrasnom ugođaju Kaštela, no nastavljamo s Međunarodnim programom u Areni i Kinu Valli.

PEAK OF THE 58th PULA FILM FESTIVAL INTERNATIONAL PROGRAMME

This year’s International Programme has reached its peak. This is confirmed by the visit of great American director James Ivory, to whom the festival has dedicated a retrospective this year. James Ivory’s films have received six Academy Awards and a large number of festival prizes, whereas the director has won three nominations for an Academy Award and a Silver Lion for Best Director.

Before a packed Kastel auditorium, with more than six hundred spectators, James Ivory introduced himself in a manner characteristic of true artists – directly, simply and sincerely, speaking of his impressions of Pula and Croatia and presenting his last but one film The White Countess. As part of his visit to the Pula Film Festival, Ivory will also hold a press conference and he will be granted a Golden Arena for Lifelong Contribution to Cinematic Art at the opening ceremony in the Arena. The audience will have an opportunity to talk to Ivory after the screening of his film The Bostonians, which will close his retrospective in Pula.

Apart from film screenings, the International Programme will be enriched by the visit of film crews of the following films: Cinema Komunisto, headed by director Mila Turajlić, Montevideo, Taste of a Dream, headed by director Dragan Bjelogrlić, and Skinning, headed by director Stevan Filipović. We hereby bid farewell to presenting the part of the International Programme in the beautiful Kastel for this year, and we continue with the International Programme  in the Arena and Valli Cinema.
